Attack on military post in Indian-administered Kashmir, three personnel killed

Militants have attacked an army post in Indian-administered Kashmir, killing three Indian Army personnel and injuring two others.

According to the Reuters news agency, the attack took place in the predominantly Muslim area of Rajouri on Thursday morning. Two attackers were also killed in the retaliation.

An Indian army officer told Reuters that security forces have cordoned off the area after the attack on the military outpost and a search operation is underway.

The official said that three Indian soldiers were killed and two were injured in the attack while two militants were killed in the retaliatory action.

It should be noted that this attack by the militants has taken place three years after the end of the special constitutional status of Kashmir, while on the other hand, India will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its independence on Monday.

India's Hindu nationalist government's move to strip Kashmiris of their special status is seen as an attempt to deny the rights of Muslims. However, the Indian government has denied the allegation and has taken a stand that it will bring development to the region and bring it closer to other parts of the country.
