In Saudi Arabia, the burqa-clad singer is facing severe criticism on social media

Riyadh: A video of a burqa-clad woman recording a song went viral in Saudi Arabia, on which many users slammed the woman while some encouraged her.

On social networking site Twitter, Saudi Arabian actor Abdullah Al Sadhan shared a video in which a burqa-clad woman can be seen singing a song.

In the caption of the video, actor Abdullah Al Sadhan wrote that the voice is very beautiful. May Allah protect you. Of course, finding sustenance is difficult. Keep moving forward no matter how hard it is.

While many users praised the woman on this video, most of the Saudi citizens criticized the burqa-clad singer by expressing their disapproval.

Users supporting the woman wrote that the hijab, burqa or veil does not hinder the expression of any ability. You are an artist and can create the magic of your voice even when you are veiled.

On the other hand, a critical user wrote that music and singing are not religiously permissible. If you want to earn a living, take up a profession that makes everyone proud of you.

Describing the singing profession and the burqa as a double standard, users wrote that either follow the full religion or dress up as a singer.
