The video of Iranian feminist activist's poem 'Iqraar' goes viral

 Masih Ali Nijad, a prominent Iranian feminist, shared a video online on August 16 in which she, along with other women activists, read a poem titled 'Iqrar' by an anonymous poet.

According to Arab News, the poem expresses solidarity with 28-year-old Iranian writer and artist Sepida Rashnu, who was arrested on June 15 after a video of her altercation with another woman over her refusal to wear a headscarf was posted online.

Another woman activist who participated in the video in support of Sepida Rashnu says that the poem was meant to raise the voice of women like Sepida.

According to Radio Farda, Rashnoo Khatun was riding a bus in Tehran without a hijab when a stranger filmed her and threatened to send the video to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Later, a few days after the video was shared on social media, Sapida Rashnu disappeared.


The report added that Iran's state television aired a video clip of Rashnu's 'confession' on July 30, in which she was seen in a weak physical condition.

According to reports, Rashnu, 28, was allegedly beaten up before appearing on TV and was later immediately hospitalized after admitting to breaking the hijab law.
