The world's first underwater messaging app is ready

Washington: Despite all the advancements, our smartphones do not work underwater and cannot send SMS. However, now American experts have created an amazing app that makes messaging in shallow water possible.

Scientists at the University of Washington have named it 'equip' which can work on almost all smartphones without any hardware changes. But making it was not an easy task as there were various technical difficulties when the work started. Now snorkelers and scuba divers can connect to it two-way.

This is because divers also use hand signals to communicate underwater. Amateur or recreational divers operate with only 20 signals or signals and professional divers know 200 signals that communicate their condition, oxygen depletion or marine life.

The Echo app can work on both smartphones and smartwatches. However, smartwatches rely on cell phone service in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. All three of these means of communication do not work or are poor in any way underwater.

The Aqua app only requires a waterproof phone or keeping the phone in a waterproof bag. The most important function in this will be the microphone and speaker. All you have to do underwater is that the 240 messages already used by divers are already included in the form of SMS. 20 of these messages will be displayed clearly. These include orientation, atmospheric conditions and the condition of the diving equipment, i.e. how much oxygen there is and what other equipment is saying.

But this comes with a number of problems, i.e. underwater smartphone signals tend to be more or less variable, even when waves and humans appear. For these problems an algorithm was created which keeps the app better in changing situation. Contacts

Or the algorithm itself improves it in case of transmission degradation. Also, this algorithm optimizes the entire system in case of solar distance.

On the other hand, before sending a message, the phone sends a quick note called a preamble. The app on the other (receiving device) takes help from the algorithm to receive the preamble. Then she says to the first phone yes send sms now

After which messaging starts.

Interestingly, experts have created a networking protocol for this that can run on 60 phones at a time. Experts then tested it at different depths and found that it works best up to a depth of 30 meters. However, further experiments are pending on this.
