On the first day of the opening of the Japan Tourism Expo in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, the Saudi booth is showing visitors a glimpse of its unique cultural and natural heritage through experiences.
According to Arab News Japan, the expo is being held as Japan hopes to revive its tourism industry, which has slowed since the coronavirus outbreak. Japan has a strict entry policy for all foreigners and only recently a very limited number have been allowed into the country.
Saudi Arabia's booth at the Japan Tourism Expo warmly invites visitors to explore the country's mysterious charms, such as the city of Jeddah, which has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Exhibitors in national dress invite visitors to linger for moments of relaxation with tea served in the traditional style.
Visitors can also take selfies in front of a virtual landscape that they have previously selected using a QR code available at the stand and imagine that they are standing in the desert.
Nouf Al-Hassan, assistant manager of Asia Pacific at the Saudi Tourism Authority, told Arab News Japan that it is now possible for Japanese tourists to arrange special trips to Madinah.
The organizers of the show hope to draw more than 150,000 visitors over the three days.
