New York: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged developed countries, international financial institutions and fossil fuel companies to step up to help countries affected by climate change, including Pakistan.

He said that the country least responsible for climate change is facing more destruction, for this we have to take steps, developed countries should help developing countries by developing financial infrastructure equipped with reforms.
A ceremony and reception related to the Sustainable Development Goals was organized by the Secretary General of the United Nations before the 77th session of the General Assembly. The purpose of the event was to take forward the 2030 Agenda and formulate an action plan for the rapid global climate change.
Addressing the event, the UN Secretary General urged countries to act swiftly to find a solution to the crisis through peace and unity and bring the world back to recovery.
Antonio Guterres said developed countries should set up a reformed financial framework with increased public and private sector financing and investment to benefit developing countries and relieve them of debt.
He said that developed countries should increase investment in health, education and welfare projects and create employment opportunities for global social security.
