New medical insurance scheme from October 1, what are the 18 new facilities?

 Saudi Health Insurance Council is launching a new medical insurance scheme from October 1, 2022.

According to Akhbar24, 18 more facilities will be added to the medical insurance scheme while the existing 10 facilities will be improved.

Spokesperson of the Health Insurance Council, Nasir Aldani, said that 'Vaccines and pre-tests for possible diseases are included in the medical insurance program. Special attention will be given to women's health. Bariatric surgery and kidney transplant will be part of the medical insurance program.

He said that the medical insurance program will include mental health and its treatment. The scope of coverage related to incurable and severe mental diseases will be increased from 15 thousand to 50 thousand riyals.

In the new scheme, the coverage of other facilities including kidney cleaning has also been increased.

In addition, speaking to Al-Arabiya channel, Health Insurance Council spokesperson Dr. Nasir Al-Jahni said that 'after the addition of new facilities in the medical insurance program, there will be a slight increase in the medical insurance scheme fee in the near future.'

The new facilities are in the compulsory medical insurance schemes for all categories who are required to have medical insurance. Apart from this, new facilities will also be added to the medical insurance schemes of private sector employees and their relatives.

He said that there are five diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, heart disease and obesity.

He further said that in the new medical insurance scheme, emphasis has been placed on meeting contemporary requirements. Now low-cost medicine has become a basic requirement in terms of health services.
