Shakira could face up to eight years in prison and a hefty fine for tax fraud.

On the other hand, the 45-year-old Shakira has denied the allegations and her public relations firm has said that she has deposited $2.8 million in interest in addition to her taxes.

Colombian superstar Shakira was befriended by Spanish footballer Gerard Pique in 2011, which later turned into love, and the couple often resided in the Bahamas, but Shakira and Gerard Pique broke up this year.

According to prosecutors, Shakira lived mostly in Barcelona, Spain, instead of the Bahamas, with Gerard Pique from 2012 to 2014, after which she was accused of tax evasion.

A date for Shakira's tax fraud trial has not yet been announced.

It should be noted that earlier in Spain, the government and the police cracked down on famous footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for not paying taxes.
