WhatsApp blocked around 24 lakh Indian accounts

 California: Instant messaging application WhatsApp blocked 2.39 million Indian accounts in July.

According to media reports, among the blocked accounts, 14 lakh 20 thousand accounts were blocked before any user reported it.

According to the company, several accounts were blocked after complaints were received through the company's complaint channel and flagging of abusive activities by the device.

In the month of July, WhatsApp received 574 complaint reports.

The messaging platform, which has come under fire for spreading misinformation around the world, including in India, blocked 2.21 million Indian accounts in June.
