Commencement of residence in the UAE for foreigners without a sponsor

 The UAE government has launched 10 types of residences including 'golden', 'virtual' and 'green' for foreigners from Monday, October 3, 2022.

According to Emirates Today, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has said that ten types of Iqams have been issued for foreigners. Their term is from two to ten years. All positions are expandable.

In the new Iqama system, visas and Iqamas are provided for investors, businessmen, scientists, experts, distinguished students, welfare services, doctors and skilled people from all walks of life.

Facilitation has been enhanced with visa and residence processing being shortened and simplified.

Iqama will also be issued for the family of a foreigner residing in the UAE and children and daughters of foreign passport holders of GCC countries.

Apart from this, according to the regulations issued by the head of the federal authority, Iqama will also be issued on the basis of human conditions.

 The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has said that the sponsor system has been completely abolished in the country. There is no place for a sponsor in the new visa system.

The authority says that the future will depend on the business relationship between the employer and the employee. Visas will be issued in record time and exceptional flexibility will be shown in providing the prescribed facilities.

The statement said that 'foreigners will be able to stay in the emirate for one to six months after the expiry or cancellation of Iqama.'
