The mother of a girl killed by police violence in Iran committed suicide

The mother of the girl who was killed by security personnel in Iran has committed suicide.

Arab News, citing Metro, said that 16-year-old YouTuber Sarina Ismailzada was severely tortured by security personnel during a protest in Karaj last month, from which she died.

According to the report, the family members searched for Sarina for several days and on the 10th day, the authorities handed over the body to them.

Sarina's YouTube channel has videos of her not wearing hijab and dancing with a man, and in one video she talks about women's rights.

On repeated attempts by the family to recover the body, the security personnel mocked the mother saying that her daughter was involved in immoral activities and a terrorist.

Finally, when Sarina's body was handed over to the family, the mother was shocked to see her mutilated body and went home and hanged herself.

Local news channels have confirmed the incident.

The human rights organization Amnesty International says that the security authorities also subjected the girl's family to atrocities to keep them silent.

On the other hand, 185 people, including 19 children, have died in the ongoing protest against Mehsa Amini's death in police custody.

Metro says bodies of those killed during the protests are taken into custody by security personnel and strict rules and regulations have been put in place for handing them over to relatives.
