Who are the two fact checkers from India among the candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize?

 This year, the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is being held on Friday in Oslo, the capital of Norway.

For the Nobel Peace Prize, where personalities working for humanitarian aid and welfare have been invited from all over the world, this time two fact checkers and journalists from India were also included in the list.

Among the nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize are India-based Alt News founder and co-founder Prateek Sinha and Mohammad Zubair.

Prateek Sinha and Muhammad Zubair created a fact-checking website called 'Alt News' in 2017 to counter fake news and propaganda content on Indian social media, which is currently one of the major fake-checking services.

Alt News founder Prateek Sinha was a software engineer by profession but took up journalism and writing instead.

Prateek Sinha previously ran a website called 'Truth of Gujarat'. He has also written a book titled 'India Misinformed' against misinformation, fake news and propaganda on social media.

Muhammad Zubair, co-founder of the fact-checking website Alt News, posted on the social networking website Twitter content uploaded by India's right-wing political and religious parties, particularly the propaganda of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). work against

Through his tweets, Mohammad Zubair explains the origin of the misinformation spread through the internet in India, especially the propaganda uploaded against Indian Muslims and minorities.

He has been targeted by right-wing parties and opponents due to which he has also been facing lawsuits.

This year, Muhammad Zubair's role was most important in bringing out the video insulting the Prophet of Islam by BGP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, after which there were protests against the Indian government across the world, including in the Middle East.

The law enforcement agencies arrested Muhammad Zubair four years ago for the meme he shared after bringing the incident of insulting the Prophet of Islam to light.

Muhammad Zubair and Prateek Sinha are considered strong candidates to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Apart from Muhammad Zubair and Prateek Sinha, the race for the Nobel Peace Prize includes President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, exiled opposition leader of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanofiskaya, anti-corruption campaigner in Russia Alexei Navalny.

Other nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize include anti-pollution activist Greta Thunberg and renowned biologist and broadcaster David Attenborough.
