 An application was filed in the Lahore High Court against the exhibition of the controversial film Joyland in Pakistan.

Through the mediation of Advocate Abid Hussain Khachi, Muhammad Bilal Shafiq has made the federal and provincial Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, PEMRA, Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA), Censor Board and others party to the petition.

The petitioner contended that the film was made against Sharia and moral and religious values, which could break the family system in an Islamic society.

The petition pleaded that the film is against Pakistani and Islamic laws, such a film cannot be issued a license for its exhibition, so its exhibition in Pakistan should be permanently banned and the censorship certificate and license revoked.
