In a match of Group C of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Saudi Arabia has defeated Argentina and caused the first upset of the tournament.
Saudi Arabia won by two goals to one in the match played at Lussle Stadium in Doha on Tuesday.
The first goal of the match was scored by Argentina's Lionel Messi on a penalty kick in the tenth minute of the first half. In response to this, in the 48th minute, Saudi Arabia's Saleh Al-Shahri scored the first goal and equalized the score.
Just five minutes later, Salim Al-Dusiri scored Saudi Arabia's second goal to give the team a lead that lasted until the end of the match.
It should be noted that Argentina has won the World Cup twice, while the Saudi national team has previously participated in the World Cup competitions 5 times. Currently, Saudi Arabia's football team is ranked 51st in the world.
There were more than 88,000 spectators at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, with a large number of Saudi fans participating.
Saudi Arabia's star player Riyad Shirahili could not participate in today's match as he needs treatment under medical supervision.
Before the match, Renad, the French coach of the Saudi team, said that the national team is fully prepared for the competition.
On the other hand, Argentine player Messi said that Qatar FIFA World Cup is the last destination of his journey from where he will fulfill his dream of winning the World Cup.
The Saudi team is in Group C along with Argentina, Mexico and Poland.
