Geneva: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called on the military leadership of Myanmar to immediately restore the democratic government in the country.
Antonio Guterres added that Myanmar's military government should listen to its people, release political prisoners and transfer power to a democratic government. This is the only way for stability and peace in the country and the region.
The UN chief further said that a five-point peace plan has been agreed with Myanmar's military government, but it has not yet been implemented, which is a matter of concern.
It should be noted that in February last year, the military overthrew the democratic government in Myanmar and arrested many politicians including the ruling Aung San Suu Kyi.

The military government also executed 5 people, including members of the assembly and a pro-democracy activist, but the resistance against the military government is still going on. The country's separatist militant groups have also risen up against the military government.
