A film about Israeli brutality won the Asia Pacific Screen Award

Sydney: Jordanian and Palestinian filmmaker Darin Salam's film 'Faraha' won the 'Best Youth Film' award at the 15th Asia Pacific Screen Awards held in Australia.

The film 'Faraha' was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.

The story of "Farha" dates back to the period from 1947 to 1949, when 500 Palestinian villages and settlements were destroyed and more than 700,000 Palestinians became homeless.

Director Darien Salam said that Farha is based on the true story of a migrant woman, Radiya, who was locked in a basement by her father during the riots.

Darien Salam is the first Jordanian filmmaker to win the Asia Pacific Screen Award.
