Lebanon's Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the Saudi ambassador in Beirut have emphasized the importance of the Taif Peace Agreement for Lebanon in a press conference on Saturday.
According to Arab News, the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Waleed bin Abdullah Bukhari, organized a forum at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut, in which more than a thousand political, economic, diplomatic, literary and academic figures participated.
Among the participants in the forum were veteran diplomat Al-Khidr Brahimi, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Janmblat, MPs from the Free Patriotic Movement, and presidential candidate Suleiman Faranjay, who was instrumental in drafting the Taif Agreement.

Saudi Arabia has reiterated its desire for national reconciliation in Lebanon.
The forum has been held in view of the campaign launched by Hezbollah and its ally Free Patriotic Movement in Lebanon against the Taif Agreement.
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Meqati said that the forum is proof that Saudi Arabia still stands by Lebanon and that a large number of the most important figures in the forum agree that the Taif Agreement is still the best to implement.
On this occasion, Saudi Ambassador Waleed bin Abdullah Bukhari has reiterated the deep interest of Saudi Arabia and its leadership in the security, stability and unity of Lebanon.
He said that we urgently need to adopt the protection of Lebanese existence under the formula of coexistence which is mentioned in the Taif Agreement.
Speaking about the French initiative for a national dialogue between the Lebanese parties, the Saudi ambassador said that under the leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron, it has been emphasized that France has no intention of revising the Taif Agreement or amending the constitution. keep
Meanwhile, Al-Khidr Brahimi praised the role of former Lebanese Speaker Hussein Al-Husseini in reaching the agreement, he paid tribute to former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and former Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal who were the heroes of the Taif Agreement.
Brahimi said that the Taif Agreement paved the way for the Lebanese to build their new state. We had high hopes for the tripartite committee that was set up to assist in the implementation of Taif and that was the will of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and other Arab leaders, but Iraq's invasion of Kuwait stopped the committee's work.
On this occasion, the former Prime Minister of Lebanon, Fouad Siniora, has said that the election of a president who believes in the Taif Agreement is the most important for the fulfillment of the constitutional authorities and for this, everyone's goodwill is needed.
