Ricky Ponting was shifted to the hospital due to heart trouble

 Perth: Australia's two-time World Cup champion captain Ricky Ponting has been taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack.

According to media reports, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting suffered a heart attack during the Test series between Australia and West Indies, after which he was immediately shifted to a hospital in Perth.

Ricky Ponting, acting as broadcaster for The Channel Seven for coverage of the Test series, left the commentary during the lunch break in the match.

Meanwhile, a Channel 7 spokesperson has confirmed that Ricky Ponting is unwell and will not be providing commentary for the remainder of today's coverage.

Star batsman Ricky Ponting is seen as the golden era captain of the Australian team, apart from being a part of Australia's three consecutive World Cup victories from 1999 to 2007, he led the Kangaroos in the 2006 and 2009 editions.


It has been more than a decade since Ponting retired from international cricket, the 47-year-old also coached Mumbai Indians in the IPL from 2014 to 2016.
