Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly summoned the Supreme Court at 2 pm

 Lahore: The Supreme Court declared the petition against the ruling of the Deputy Speaker admissible and issued notices to the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Chief Secretary Punjab and other parties and summoned them at 2 o'clock today.


A 3-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial comprising Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar heard the petition of Speaker Pervez Elahi against the rolling of the Deputy Speaker in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

Tehreek-e-Insaf's lawyer Ali Zafar argued that the Chief Minister of Punjab was elected yesterday in which Hamza Shehbaz got 179 votes and Pervaiz Elahi got 186 votes, but the Deputy Speaker based on the alleged letter of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, ten of the QL Vote rejected.


The Supreme Court declared the petition against the ruling of the Deputy Speaker admissible and issued notices to all the parties. The court issued notices to Hamza Shahbaz, Chief Secretary, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Deputy Attorney General and Advocate General Punjab and other parties and summoned them at 2 o'clock today.


PTI has said in the petition that the Deputy Speaker has violated Articles 4, 5 and 63A of the Constitution and has given a decision against the majority opinion, the original letter of Chaudhry Shujaat has been accepted by the Deputy Speaker without any confirmation. Transgressed and violated his oath by ignoring the instructions of the parliamentary leader.


The plaintiff requested that the court should suspend the ruling and prevent Hamza Shehbaz from taking oath and exercising the powers of the chief minister.
