Birmingham: Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem has managed to win the gold medal in the javelin throw final. In the final of the event, the Pakistani athlete also set a new record by making the longest throw in the history of the Commonwealth Games.
There were 16 athletes including the world champion Arshad Nadeem competing in the javelin throw event of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
After the third throw, Arshad Nadeem entered the eight best throwers in the top eight, after which he was given three more throws.
Arshad Nadeem threw the fourth throw of 85.9 meters while the world champion threw the fourth throw of 82.74 meters, on which occasion the world champion Anders Petrus overtook Arshad.
Peters threw 88.64 meters in the fifth over and then Arshad Nadeem threw 90.18, later he threw 86 meters in the sixth over.
After seeing the result, the administration declared Arshad Nadeem the gold medalist of javelin throw event while the former world champion managed to win the silver medal.
Earlier, Arshad Nadeem, who got the fifth position in the Olympics and the World Championship, said that he will do his best to win a medal. Athlete's physician Dr. Asad Abbas said that Arshad is ninety percent fit, with the same injury he participated in Olympics and World Athletics Championship, here we have worked on improving his fitness. He hoped that Arshad would throw well and win the medal.
It should be noted that one hundred and three members of Pakistan's contingent participated in the Commonwealth Games. Pakistan has won two gold, three silver and two bronze medals so far. Pakistan won five medals in the last Commonwealth Games.
