5 historic mosques in Makkah region will be restored under the second phase of the renewal, expansion and renovation of historic mosques program launched by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The objective of this program is to preserve, renovate and preserve the architecture of mosques that have been affected by climatic changes over the past centuries.
According to the Saudi news agency "SPA", Al-Bayya Mosque was built in Mina by the Abbasid Caliph Abu Jafar al-Mansur near Jumrah al-Aqaba. It is the first mosque to be completed under the second phase of the project.
After renovation, the area of Masjid al-Biya will remain 457.56 square meters. It will have a capacity of 68 worshippers.

Al-Khidr Mosque located on Al-Zhab Street in Al-Balad area of Jeddah is more than 700 years old. After construction and rehabilitation, its area will be 355.09. It will have a capacity of 355 worshippers.
"Masjid Al-Fatah" under Al-Jumum Governorate is also included in the second phase. In this mosque, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered prayers. This mosque was restored after renovation in 1998 according to 1419 AH. Now after the new construction and renovation, its area will be 553.50 square meters. While 333 people can pray in it.
Al-Jubeel Mosque near Thaqif Center in the south of Taif Governorate is also included in the renovation and restoration project. This is a 300 year old mosque. After the restoration, its area will be 310 square meters and it will have a capacity of 45 worshippers.
It should be noted that the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman had directed the renovation and repair of 30 historic mosques in 10 regions of the kingdom under the first phase, on which the work has been completed. This program has been implemented in the kingdom with the cooperation and participation of the Saudi Department of Tourism and National Antiquities and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Guidance.
