Israeli planes bomb Damascus airport; 5 killed

 Damascus: The Israeli air force bombarded the Damascus airport in which 5 Syrian army personnel were killed.

According to international news agencies, Israeli planes fired missiles at Damascus Airport and adjacent security bases, as a result of which 5 Syrian soldiers were killed and flights were suspended.

The spokesman of the Syrian army says that the country's air defense system responded in time and disabled many missiles of the Israeli army in the air, but some missiles fell on the airport, which also damaged the building.

The Israeli military has stepped up operations against Iranian-backed fighters in Syria, accusing Iran of supplying firearms to groups including Lebanon's Hezbollah.

It should be noted that since 2011, more than 300,000 people have been killed and more than 100,000 displaced in the civil war in Syria. The Syrian government has pushed back ISIS fighters with the help of Russia and coalition forces.
