The death of a woman in custody, the Iranian president orders an investigation

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has ordered an investigation into the death of a woman who fell into a coma while in custody.

According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, President Ibrahim Raisi has ordered Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi to "immediately pay special attention to the investigation of this incident."

According to the American news agency Associated Press, Iran's state media reported the woman's death on Friday, while the police said the woman died of a heart attack.

According to reports on social media, 22-year-old Mehsha Amini was detained by the police earlier this week for 'not wearing hijab properly'.

It should be noted that wearing a headscarf is mandatory for women in Iran and the police are strict in enforcing the dress code.
