The Executive Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission in the United Arab Emirates, Mohammad Al Hammadi, was elected as the new head of the International Organization of Nuclear Operators.
The General Assembly of the World Organization in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, gave a decision in favor of Hammadi after voting. He is the first Emirati and Arab head of this organization.
According to Emirates News Agency, several countries are trying to join the global arrangement of nuclear operators. They want the support of the organization regarding the schemes of new nuclear power plants.

Al Hammadi will lead the administration of the World Organization of Nuclear Operators. They will improve the contribution of member countries to achieve the goals of the organization.
The Emirates Atomic Energy Commission became a member of the International Organization of Nuclear Operators in October 2010.
During August 2015, al-Hammadi was elected to the management of the Atlanta Center in the United States under the said organization.
Al Hammadi has said that the UAE is playing a leading role in the evolution of nuclear energy. Barakah Nuclear Plants in UAE is performing standard performance in the global nuclear energy sector and is benefiting from international experiences in this regard.
It should be noted that the Barakah nuclear plants in the UAE account for 20 percent of the UAE's peaceful nuclear program. The UAE is focusing on strategic investments in the nuclear energy sector.
