T20 World Cup: England beat Sri Lanka in semi-finals, hosts Australia out

 In the important match of the ICCT20 World Cup, England has qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Sri Lanka by four wickets.

In the match played in Sydney on Saturday, England achieved the target of 142 runs in 19.4 overs for the loss of six wickets. Ben Stokes remained not out with 42 runs and played a vital role in the team's victory. Apart from them, Alex Hales scored 47 runs and Jos Buttler scored 28 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Hasaranga De Silva and Dhananjaya De Silva dismissed two players each.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first, but none other than Patham Nesanka could do anything special, and could only manage 141 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Nesanka scored 67 runs off 45 balls with the help of five sixes and two fours. Mark Wood took three wickets for England but the man of the match award went to Adil Rashid who conceded just 16 runs in four overs and took one wicket.

New Zealand have already qualified for the semi-finals from Group A, while England's win knocked Australia out of the tournament.

England and Australia have seven points each, but England has qualified for the semi-finals due to the run rate.

On the other hand, who will qualify for the semi-finals from Group B will be decided after the results of the South Africa vs Netherlands, Pakistan vs Bangladesh and India vs Zimbabwe matches.
